Himalayan Sea Salt

Salt. Oh salt... We truly have a confusing relationship with this saline mineral that can lead to salvation more often than not. On one hand there is the chemically cleaned and bleached kind known as table salt that is made of 97.5% sodium chloride and 2.5% chemicals (moisture absorbents, synthetic iodine, and anti-caking agents to list a few words to make you check a dictionary or strike fear into your hearts).

On the other hand there is the wildly popular sea salt that seems to be the healthier option but due to ours oceans becoming more and more polluted it is still a gamble to ensure that it is a pure form and not riddled with impurities.

To some this may seem like Dooms Day propaganda but do not despair if you crave the satisfaction that only salt can bring (we are certainly in that category). The hero of the day (year.... century... millennia...) is Himalayan sea salt. This beautiful pink hued rock is the purest salt available, leaving behind the toxins and pollutants found in sea salt.

Reasons why Himalayan sea salt is the bee’s knees:

  • Promotes healthy pH balance in cells
  • Promotes bone strength
  • Reduces inflammation
  • Aids in proper metabolism functioning
  • Reduces signs of aging

Now, many can be skeptic how something as simple as some pink sea salt can achieve so much but because it is an unrefined, unprocessed, “raw” salt that is hand-mined from salt caves, it really is as wonderful as it sounds. It contains all 84 elements found in the body, almost all of which are missing from table salt (not including the synthetic iodine they add in later, but that’s a whole other story).

Getting to the technical side... Its minerals and trace elements are in colloidal form, which means they are small enough for your body to be able to easily assimilate them (think super duper teeny tiny).

So why are we raving about salt? The honest truth is that our bodies cannot live without it. You may even need more salt than you are getting, especially if you juice often, exercise regularly and/or live in a hot climate.

Hint: A craving for junk food is often a trigger by a sodium deficiency. Hence why a bag of chips can satisfy that craving so precisely.

So next time you are finding for that satisfaction only salt can sate, take the extra step to add Himalayan sea salt to your snack or stop by our store and grab one of our energy bites or one of our nut milks that each have a healthy dose of 100% organic Pink Himalayan sea salt.
